T. Robert Romero passed away peacefully on February 24, 2017, at the age of 92. Mr. Romero practiced law in Montgomery County, Maryland, since 1949 and was an Auditor of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County since 1962.
There will be a viewing at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, 300 West Montgomery Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850, on Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Argyle Country Club, 14600 Argyle Club Road, Silver Spring, MD 20906, on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 11:30 a.m.
T. Robert Romero, 92, a prominent Montgomery County attorney, died February 24, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he has been staying with his daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Scott Dance.
Bob was born on May 16, 1924, in Washington, DC. His father, Robert Romero, was an attorney for the Federal Government. Bob graduated from Coolidge High School and attended the University of Maryland as a pre-med student, prior to his enlistment in the US Army in 1942. He served in the European Theatre of Operations for two years. He was attached to the Third Army as a combat photographer and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. He attended the George Washington University from 1946 to 1949 and obtained a degree of Bachelor Laws and a degree of Juris Doctor.
He began the private practice of law in 1949 in Silver Spring, Maryland, and later established an office in Rockville, Maryland. In 1962, the Circuit Court for Montgomery County appointed him to serve as Court Auditor. He was also the founding member of T. Robert Romero, LLC.
In 1946, he married Betty Lee Payne, who predeceased him in 2000. They had five children: T. Robert Romero, Jr (Barbara), of Waldorf, MD; Elizabeth Lee Dance (Scott), of Las Vegas, NV; Mary Patricia Oldak (Elliott), of Annapolis, MD; Michael Romero, of Wilmington, NC; and Joseph Romero (Susan), of Atlantic Beach, FL, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Bob enjoyed playing golf, primarily at Argyle Country Club and Leisure World. He also loved to fish and hunt.
