Of Bradenton, FL, passed on January 26, 2017. Born in Washington DC, raised in Bethesda MD, he wintered in Bradenton, FL since 1989 with a primary residence in Rockville, MD. He received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Houston. He was also a distinguished pilot for the US Air Force where he was engaged in the Korean Conflict, and flew supplies in the Berlin Corridor. Upon retirement from the US Air Force, Tom completed his Law Degree at Georgetown University and practiced law out of his Gaithersburg, MD office for the balance of his professional career. He also was the founder and primary instructor at the Beight Bar Review School, a primer for taking the Maryland Bar Exam, which had a highly successful track record of success for its students. He was licensed to practice law in Maryland, Washington DC, Delaware and Florida. He was a devoted Catholic and an inspiration to his family, and friends.
Predeceased by parents, John and Mary (Raeder) Beight and wife, Pann. He is survived by his daughter, Linda A. Swenson of Bradenton, FL; sons, Michael Hamlin of Key West, FL, James L. Beight of Herndon, VA, Christopher G. Hamlin-Beight of Kensington, MD and John L. Beight, MD of Philadelphia, PA; and 13 grandchildren all of whom knew him as a devoted father and grandfather.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD at the reception room within the main Parklawn facility office. Please feel free to attend, the ceremony is open to anyone that knew Tom either personally or professionally. He is dearly missed.
