Administrative Law Section
Please welcome at your first opportunity, Javaneh Pourkarim, Esquire, as the new co-chairperson for the Administrative Law Section.
Judge Nicolas Orechwa has relocated to Howard County, Maryland, but plans to participate when he is available.
We thank Judge Orechwa for his service as co-chairperson for the section.
Below is Ms. Pourkarim's bio:
Javaneh Pourkarim has been a staff attorney at Maryland Legal Aid for over five years. Prior to that, she was a staff attorney at Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Maine. In her years as an attorney, she has assisted hundreds of low-income Marylanders. Her current practice consists of elder and family law, focusing on Medicaid, involuntary nursing home discharge, housing, divorce and custody trials. She graduated from Barry University Law School in Orlando, Florida in December of 2011 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in May of 2012. Javaneh is passionate about access to justice and human rights issues and has dedicated her career to public service. She is bilingual and fluent in Farsi/Persian. She is also the co-chair of the Law & Aging Task Force at Maryland Legal Aid and the vice president of the DC Chapter of the Iranian American Bar Association.
She is excited to join the Administrative Law Section as a co-chair. In the course of her career, she has handled many administrative hearings and recognizes and appreciates the overlap of administrative law with the many different legal fields. Because of these intersections, she hopes to start collaborative meetings and training with other sections of the Montgomery County Bar Association and nonprofit and governmental organizations around the State.
You can reach Javaneh email@example.com, or 301-637-1060. Welcome Javaneh!
