We hope everyone has enjoyed a healthy and happy holiday season and best wishes going into the New Year. There is no New Practitioners Section meeting in January, but look out for some exciting events in February!

We are very excited to be teaming up with the BAMC Social Committee and the Maryland State Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Section to host a Charity Indoor Cycling Ride at Zengo in Bethesda on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm, with a social hour upstairs at Brickside Food and Drink following the ride at 2:00 pm. All proceeds will go to support our favorite local charity, Comfort Cases. Please sign up in advance and reserve your bike at by clicking under the Reserve tab for the Bethesda location, then searching for our event and date.

Keep an eye out for emails and other announcements from the New Practitioners Section.

If you have questions, please contact either Callie Carnemark at / (301) 762-5212 or  Josh Schmand at / (301) 347-1273.

The Chamber Chats series is privileged to have The Honorable Jill R. Cummins host the January 2019 Chat. Judge Cummins, who starts an eighteen month assignment in the General/Criminal rotation in early January, worked as a trial attorney and litigator for her entire legal career prior to her appointment to the Circuit Court bench. Please join us on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. for a brown-bag lunch in Courtroom 7A (North Tower, 7th Floor) and learn from one of Montgomery County’s esteemed judges.

Please feel free to contact me at or 301-961-5140 with any suggestions, questions, or comments regarding the Chamber Chats series.  Your feedback is incredibly helpful to make sure the Chats are most beneficial to you.  Lastly, on behalf of the New Practitioners Section, I extend sincerest gratitude to both Judge Mason for hosting an incredible Chat in October and Doris Tamanini, Judge Mason’s Administrative Assistant, for supporting the coordination of the event.

We are taking applications from new practitioners who want to be matched up with a Mentor.  We are also seeking practitioners with more than seven (7) years of experience to serve as Mentors to eager new attorneys.  If you are interested, please contact me at 240-778-2329 or Applications to become a mentor or a mentee are available at  They can be submitted to  Hayes Edwards
