The interfaith social services coalition “pursues social justice with an emphasis on identifying and meeting the needs of the poor….” It provides the following services: 1) Shelters for individuals who are committed to solving their homelessness; 2) Shelters for chronically mentally ill homeless women; 3) housing projects where homeless disabled men and women can work towards independence; 4) the organization administers grants to prevent eviction and foreclosure, utility cut-offs, to buy medicine and food, and helps ensure equal access to emergency services; 5) assistance to low-income entrepreneurs; 6) provides low-income working families and Independent Living foster youth with mentoring teams; and 7) education and advocacy. This is a non-legal coalition, but may provide legal referrals if necessary. Most services are free of charge, but some services require a referral from a social worker to verify the low-income status of the individual.
