Could you be more successful if you sharpened your public speaking ?  Have you ever been "out-communicated" as an attorney?  Public Speaking for Attorneys  is aimed at those who want to better connect with audiences, be they juries, judges, clients, or other listeners.  This new, six-hour, skills-based course, teaches and enables attorneys to put into practice the following skills:

·        Organizing Points

·        Delivering Effectively

·        Reducing Speech Anxiety

·        Simplifying Ideas

·        Speaking in Oral Style

·        Designing and Presenting Visuals

In class, participants will create and deliver two speeches, such as opening statements, closing arguments, or presentations to legal audiences. The second speech will allow attorneys to further develop skills, employ a visual, and correct needed areas of improvement.  Participants will receive detailed, customized feedback and coaching.  At the end of the course, attorneys will be better skilled at creating and delivering  speeches for maximum impact with listening audiences.

Sharon Welsh, the instructor, is an executive speech coach of attorneys and judges, a U.S. Senator, U.S. Ambassadors, White House appointees, and CEOs.  As an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, she is in her 25th year teaching graduate business communication, and taught MBAs and Executive MBAs at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and at the University of Maryland's Smith School of Business.  She recently coached President of The Bar Association of Montgomery County Mal Snyder, who found her services outstanding, claiming she's "truly a professional's professional."

Make your long hours and hard work pay off for you.  A significant measure of your success hinges on what your audience understands and remembers about your message, and what they think about you.  Act now and sharpen your public speaking skills for greater success.

**Due to the shortened format, the course will not offer the original ten hours of VA State Bar MCLE credit.  However, the instructor will apply for accreditation for the six-hour format.
