Commercial Litigation Section

Because of the impending snow storm, the Commercial Litigation Section meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning is canceled.  The speaker was traveling in from out of town, so we decided to cancel now rather than wait to see what happens in the morning.  We will work to reschedule the presentation.

The next section event is a CLE presented by Frank McGuire, Director, Disputes & Investigations, Duff Phelps, LLC, titled Calculating Commercial Damages.  It will take place on April 4th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Bar Association classroom.  You can register through this link:  This seminar details appropriate step-by-step methodologies for calculating damages in typical commercial disputes, such that the analyses will withstand judicial scrutiny and/or scrutiny by opposing counsel and experts.  The presentation will also address the standards governing expert witness testimony, how to determine an appropriate discount rate, the calculation of prejudgment interest, and tax treatment of damages awards.  This program is tailored toward commercial litigators or ADR-focused attorneys who deal with economic damages on either an affirmative or rebuttal basis.
