Your committee chairs are collaborating to provide great presenters and informational sessions for our meetings this year. For our meeting on Tuesday, September 26th at Noon, we have invited Kathy Brissette-Minus, Esq. who practices in Largo, Maryland to speak about “Resolving Estates and Trusts Disputes By Means Of Collaborative Law.”  She and her collaborative cronies worked very hard with the Prince George’s County Orphans’ Court to establish a court sponsored Collaborative Practice dispute resolution program to help families heal when the death of a parent causes discord. The program has had a good start bringing closure to these sad situations. It also means that Civil Collaborative has now taken hold in Maryland’s court system. Kathy also helped organize a Collaborative Practice training focused on Estate Disputes. Kathy will share her experiences in these important activities.

The October 24th meeting will feature LJ Pelham, the Interim Director of the Collaborative Project of Maryland, to speak about "CPM, Collaborative Practice, Training and Mentoring Opportunities Within the Collaborative Community.” LJ is always up to date and will be sharing important information.

Our generous sponsor, Jeanne Koerber of RE/MAX Success, will provide a free lunch. It is important that we give Jeanne at least 24-hour notice of the number attending to make sure there is food for everyone. Email: or contact any of the co-chairs listed above with your RSVP. You are, of course, welcome to bring your own brown bag lunch, if you prefer to do so or are unable to send in your RSVP 24 hours before the meeting.

We continue to welcome your ideas and suggestions about our meetings, CLE topics, as well as how to launch and maintain a successful Collaborative practice. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting and would like you to invite your partners, associates, mentors, mentees and fellow practitioners. Remember, Collaborative Practice is interdisciplinary involving not only lawyers, but also financial and business valuation professionals, mental health coaches, real estate agents, etc. Feel free to invite any professional who would like to contribute to the Collaborative Practice movement.

For those interested in getting started in Collaborative Practice, there will be an Introductory Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice training opportunity in Falls Church, VA on Friday September 15th and the next day. It is sponsored by the Collaborative Practice Training Institute (CPTI). For more information contact the CPTI Administrator, Morna Moher, at or 571-246-7584.
