John S. Parker

John S. Parker, a long-time partner at Greenbelt’s Joseph, Greenwald & Laake, died on August 31, 2004, of cardiac arrest.
Mr. Parker was the senior member of JGL’s estate-planning and corporate law groups. He had practiced law in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties and the District of Columbia for more than 30 years.
Mr. Parker retired in 2000 to Chapin, South Carolina, but remained active at JGL, serving in an “Of Counsel” capacity. He was in Maryland at the time of his death working on client matters.
Following service in the U.S. Army in the mid-1960’s, Mr. Parker graduated from the University of Maryland. He earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland in 1973. He began his legal career as the law clerk to Alan Massengill, Esq. He later was a partner at Horowitz, Oneglia, Goldstein, Foran & Parker in College Park before joining JGL in early 1985.
Mr. Parker was a member of the Estate Planning Council of Suburban Maryland and an accredited estate planner through the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 32 years, Caroline Parker, two daughters, and a granddaughter.
