The Bar Association of Montgomery County's softball league recently concluded a successful 2015 season. This year’s league consisted of teams including the Law Clerks, Shulman Rogers, Lerch, Early & Brewer, Paley Rothman, Offit Kurman, Planet Depos, “Res Ipsa,” and Joseph Greenwald & Laake. The teams collectively played over 50 games. Lerch, Early & Brewer and Paley Rothman, who field a combined team called the “Paley Ale Brewers” led the league in wins this season. Continuing off their undefeated 2014 season, the Brewers did not lose a single one of their sixteen regular season games in 2015.
Every team participated in a three round playoff tournament. The championship match came down to the Paley Ale Brewers and Res Ipsa. Res Ipsa triumphed over the Brewers and took away the league trophy from our defending 2014 champs. The Law Clerks finished in third place.
Following the playoffs, a group of All-Stars consisting of players from various teams in the league participated in the 23rd Annual Maryland Inter-County Softball Tournament Benefitting the Carol Jean Cancer Foundation’s Camp Friendship. The Montgomery County team played well, beating perennial powerhouse Prince George’s County in extra innings and losing to the returning and eventual champion Anne Arundel County for an overall third place finish.
Congratulations to Res Ipsa, our All-Stars, and all participants. Thank you to our hard working captains on organizing a successful thirteen weeks of softball. Additional gratitude goes to Andre Forte for his contribution and leadership of the All-Stars.
