The Commission is an advisory board and also a department of Montgomery County Government. The Commission advocates for equal rights of women and maintains a Counseling and Career Center that offers personal, career and couples counseling to adults. The counseling services are provided by licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical counselors, and other mental health professionals. Workshops and seminars to benefit women are also offered by the Center each month. Additionally, the Commission provides a Legal Callback Program where callers may formulate a legal question. The question is then given to a volunteer attorney, and an attorney will call the customer back within two weeks with an answer or further information. They are not able to make referrals to specific attorneys. This Callback Program is provided free of charge, while the Center provides counseling, seminars, and workshops on a fee basis with reductions possible for qualified Montgomery County residents.
The Family Law Division of the Bar Association holds seminars once a month in both English and Spanish on the topic of Legal Separation and Divorce. (Please check website for dates.)
