This office of the Montgomery County government enforces human rights laws. The office focuses on protecting rights of individuals covered under laws dealing with employment, public accommodation, housing, and commercial real estate. It will investigate incidents of hate and violence and other complaints of discrimination. If during the investigation discrimination is discovered, a conciliation process will occur, and if that is not successful, a public administrative hearing is held on the issue. This office does not provide individual attorneys to individual clients, but only investigates claims of discrimination on behalf of citizens. The service is free for Montgomery County residents.
