The purpose of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Law and Advocacy Center (LAC) is to educate, advocate and litigate on behalf of and to empower deaf and hard of hearing people. The NAD LAC combats disability discrimination through advocacy on issues related to captioning, communication, education, employment, emergency preparedness, health care, rehabilitation, security, technology, telecommunications, and transportation. The NAD LAC is a national resource for general legal information and technical assistance about deafness and discrimination law for individuals, families, attorneys, service providers, employers, businesses, organizations, and agencies. The NAD LAC provides legal representation for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in a few select cases related to disability discrimination. Services are generally free of charge.
