CASA provides legal representation to day laborers, domestic workers, and other low-wage workers in employment cases. It provides referrals to other legal service providers and reduced-fee attorneys for non-violent employment related legal matters. Most cases that CASA handles in house involve claims for nonpayment of wages, minimum wage and overtime violations, unlawful wage deductions, discriminatory employment practices, retaliatory discharges, and involuntary servitude. No referral is required. CASA also provides legal representation to tenants’ associations and tenants who are active with, or interested in organizing a tenants’ association. CASA also provides limited immigration services. No fee is charged, however CASA implements a Time Dollar System where clients reform 10 to 20 hours of volunteer services in exchange for legal representation. Spanish and French languages are spoken at CASA. CASA also has a legal and organizing office located at 6 North Broadway in Baltimore, MD. Administrative and Accounting Office is located at 310 Tulip Avenue, Takoma Park, MD, 20912. Phone: (301) 270-0419; Fax: (301) 270-8659.
