George A. Brugger
January 19, 1941 – December 5, 2005
Surrounded by his adoring family, George Albert Brugger passed away at him home in Washington, D.C. on December 5, 2005 after a valiant battle against cancer. A prominent Washington area attorney, Mr. Brugger also dedicated himself to the large and close knit family he headed. He was the beloved, outstanding husband of Ann Rosenberg Brugger whom he married in 1990. He was an exceptional father, step-father and grandfather. He is survived by his children: Laura McCormick (Michael); Linda Brown (Thomas); Mark Brugger (Heather) and by his step-children: Marni Kaplan (Allan) and Joshua Stone (Amy). Mr. Brugger was the devoted, loving brother of three younger sisters: Trina Leonard (Harris); Lisa Wagner (Bruce) and Louise Caldwall (Tom); step-brother to Brock Williams (Sue) and attentive step-son of Joyce Brugger. Nine grandchildren and five nieces and nephews enjoyed his tender guidance and attention.
Mr. Brugger was preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert F. and Georgia Bach Brugger. A resident of Washington, D.C. and Vero Beach, FL.. Mr. Brugger was a founding partner and president of Fossett & Brugger, Chartered, a law firm based in Greenbelt, MD, which recently marked its thirtieth anniversary. Numerous professional, civic and charitable organizations enjoyed Mr. Brugger’s wisdom and leadership during his long and distinguished career.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Friday, December 9 at 11 a.m. at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Chevy Chase, Washington, D.C. Internment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. Arrangements by Pumphrey’s Bethesda-Chevy Chase Funeral Home.
